Volunteers Needed
The Salvation Army in Canberra and Queanbeyan is calling for volunteer collectors for the Red Shield Appeal doorknock on the weekend of 29th & 30th May.
Captain Dale Murray, Divisional Communications & Public Relations Secretary for The Salvation Army in ACT & South NSW said “The Red Shield Appeal doorknock raises vital funds for The Salvation Army in order for it to continue its social programs which help people in need.” This year, the doorknock goal for the Canberra and Queanbeyan areas is $230,000.
In order to achieve this goal, Captain Murray said “Our aim is to mobilise more than 1,000 volunteer collectors to knock on as many doors as possible in Canberra and Queanbeyan over the weekend.” He said volunteering involves about two to three hours of collecting in teams of four with a driver. “Volunteering for the doorknock is very rewarding, knowing you are helping those less fortunate in our community,” Captain Murray said.
