The fantastic 2017 Skating at Garema place has wrapped up.

The annual winter event sees a pop-up rink installed in the center of Canberra, where many professional skaters show off their talents including Kody-Leigh.

Since 2011, In The City Canberra (ITCC) has sponsored the open-air ice rink inspiring all Canberrans to either meet after work, or take the kids into the CBD for some fun.

This year was one of the biggest. The skating rink featured an additional ice slide, jumping castle, five-meter toboggan slide – and even had real snow falling!

Skating At Garema Place was also the first time the ice skating rink had a roof, allowing people to join in the fun despite the weather.

Jane Easthope, CEO of ITCC said the event was another great success, this year seeing the ‘Kanga’ a push along aid to help anyone get their balance on the ice.

“Skating At Garema Place was the perfect opportunity for people to get out of the house and have some fun this winter. We saw thousands of people hitting the ice with their children, friends and even for a Friday night date,” Hamish said.

“We love bringing people into the centre of the city and creating a vibrant atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.”
