Floriade in the City
The City comes alive in Spring, Canberra CBD Limited will again install the large tulips to promote Floriade along with banners to add some colour around the City. In conjunction with Floriade in the City Canberra CBD Limited presents The Tilt Busking Festival 2009. Tilt runs from the 28th of September to the 12th of October and this year will bombard the City with international, national and local buskers and comedians. Performance take place throughout the city, for times and locations see the Tilt Busking Festival programme.
The inaugural Tilt Comedy Festival will feature both local and interstate comedic talent at various city venues. Full program details are on the Comedy Festival Programme.
Groovin in the City
In conjunction with the Chief Ministers Department Canberra CBD Limited present lunch time entertainment at locations around the City, this year extending the venues to include strolling entertainers along Mort and Lonsdale Streets in Braddon. A week of Marching Band spectaculars will be held in Veterans Park,and rock bands in Glebe Park. Popular venues in City Walk, Petrie Plaza and Garema Place will also host acts. Christmas in the City
Carols can be heard in various locations around the City to accompany the Christmas fairy lights in trees and the hanging flower baskets during Christmas time. The lighting of the Christmas Tree and Christmas Concert mark the start of the Christmas season in the City. Thousands of Canberrans enjoy the official Lighting ceremony held in Civic Square in the heart of the city to be held on Saturday the 5th of December. This year as the lights go on on the Christmas Tree so will 1000’s more fairy lights Canberra CBD Limited have installed in trees in Petrie Plaza, Ainslie Avenue and a continuation of City Walk lights.
