The Board comprises of three representatives of the Property Council of Australia (the peak industry body for property owners), one representative of the Canberra City Heart Business Association and five elected Directors.

Emmanuel Notaras

Emmanuel (Manny) Notaras was born in Canberra in 1946 and has lived here ever since. He commenced his work career in the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department in 1964 leaving in 1973 to establish, with entrepreneur Arthur Laing, what was to become Canberra’s first integrated entertainment, promotion and recording company. Although a participant in the wider family business interests Manny involved himself full time in those activities from 1979 and continues to do so to the present.

Manny has served as president of Canberra City Heart Business Association for over 10 years. He is a member of the Board of Immigration Bridge Australia, The ANU School of Music Foundation Board, The Canberra Museum and Gallery Advisory Committee and The National Riesling Challenge Committee.

‘As a born and bred Canberran I have a great affection for my home town and have really lamented the decline of our city centre in recent years. It is with great pride that I have been involved in the establishment of Canberra CBD Limited.  I’m delighted to be a member of this dedicated board, well served by a talented executive, which has already achieved so much.’

Catherine Carter

BoardCarter_edited-1Catherine Carter is the ACT Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia, the national representative of the property industry, and is responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s operations, policy development and public affairs in the ACT.  The Property Council is a leading advocate for greater strategic planning of our major cities, more efficient infrastructure funding mechanisms, taxation reform, planning reform and sustainable development.

The Property Council is committed to the revitalisation of Civic and the refurbishment of the inner core. In particular, the Property Council is keen to work with government to see the development of a master plan for Civic and an action plan to achieve real improvements to Canberra’s central business district ahead of Canberra’s Centenary celebrations in 2013.

Norman Schroeder
FRICS, FAPI (CPV) F Fin

BoardSchroeder_edited-1A resident of Canberra for nearly 20 years, Norman has been associated for 40 years with commercial, industrial and retail property investment, development and management.

A qualified Valuer, Norman is a Fellow and Past President of the Australian Property Institute (ACT Division), a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute. He has spent most of his working life associated with properties throughout Australia that have been owned by leading Financial Institutions or managed by Commercial Agencies.

Outside of the world of work, Norman is a Board Member of UnitingCare Ageing’s  South Eastern Regional Board and Chairs that Board’s Property Sub-Committee.

James Service

BoardService_edited-1James Service is the Managing Director of J G Service Pty Ltd. James is also Chairman of the ACT Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Authority, a member of the ACT Division of the Property Council of Australia, a Director of Canberra CBD Limited, a Founding Board Member of AFFIRM, President of the Canberra Cancerians Committee and President of Koomarri and past Chairman of Canberra Tourism & Events Corporation (now Australian Capital Tourism).

Peter Barclay

Boardbarclay_edited-2Peter holds a BEc from the ANU and is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute.  In 2007  he was awarded an OAM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for service to the community and to business.

Peter has operated and established several businesses in Canberra over the past 23 years. He has been actively involved in the revitalisation of Civic over the past 15 years, being a founding member of the City Heart Business Association. Peter now manages King O’Malley’s Irish Pub as well as several buildings in Civic. Peter has been on the Board of Lifeline Canberra, is a member of Rotary Club of Canberra East and chaired the club’s Rotary Centenary Project which revitalised the Captain Cook Park in Griffith in partnership with the ACT Government.

Currently he sits on the Board of Exhibition Park and the Salvation Army Canberra’s Red Shield Advisory Committee.

Peter Sarris

EVRI & TDH photos 074Peter is a Director of NDH Property Services Pty Ltd and of many of the associated companies of NDH. NDH is one of Canberra’s largest and successful full service private commercial property development, management, construction and investment companies. With over 20 years experience he is responsible for the overall management of the group with particular focus on new development, financial and strategic planning.  NDH is directly responsible for the asset management of 5 properties in Central, North and the West precincts of the Canberra City (one under construction) and the interests of its valued tenants.

Peter and the NDH Group have a vision of developing sustainable building environments.  All new projects have been developed to target a 5 Star ABGR (reduced greenhouse emissions) and a Greenstar rating with a rolling refurbishment program to reduce emissions on existing buildings.

Born in Canberra, Peter joined the NDH Group in 1988 after an accounting career.  He has a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and an Associate Diploma of Applied Science in Building (ACT B Class Building Licence).  Over the years he has served on boards including Treasurer of the Hellenic Club of Canberra, member of Burley Griffin LAPAC, and on the Board of the Divisional Council for the Property Council of Australia.

Mark Sukroo

Boardsukroo_edited-1Mark has a Bachelor of Arts (Administration & Economics), University of Canberra,an  Associate Diploma of Business (Real Estate Valuation), is a  Certified Property Manager, a member of the Property Council of Australia and  an Associate (Land Economy) of the Australian Property Institute.

Mark has been a Canberra resident for 30 years and has worked with Jones Lang LaSalle for 20 years in all facets of commercial property.  Mark works closely with an array of clients including institutions and Canberra based property owners. Mark’s broad experience comprises the end-to-end management of high quality commercial office towers mainly in the Canberra CBD.  Mark possesses a passion for property, which is demonstrated by his overall knowledge of the markets he works in and his enthusiasm to be involved in new and challenging projects.

Prior to Jones Lang LaSalle, Mark was employed by the National Capital Development Commission (NCDC).  Mark therefore has an intimate knowledge of commercial property and of Canberra’s development requirements.

Karen Noad

BoardKarenKaren is the Property Manager of Canberra Centre and has held that role for two years, she has a Diploma in Practice Management and a Diploma in Property (Real Estate).

Previously Karen worked as Centre Manager at Westfield Woden, Chatswood Chase, Roselands and Argyle Mall and prior to the Centre Manager roles, in varying areas of shopping centre management at Tuggeranong Hyperdome, Westfield Belconnen and Westfield Miranda.  Before Shopping Centres, she worked as Practice Manager for medical specialists practices in Sydney.

Karen was a Board Member of Goulburn Chamber of Commerce while managing Argyle Mall, a member of the Police & Community Task Force as well as the Community Harmony Round Table while managing Roselands Shopping Centre, and as Centre Manager of Chatswood Chase, she was involved in the Chamber’s Community Security Programme.

Frank Milner

FrankMilnerDec09-1Frank  is a property expert with 35 years of experience in all aspects of the industry. An independent consultant for more than 15 years covering every aspect from project management to capital markets, Frank has had a wide range of clients including some of Australia’s largest listed property trusts. During 13 years of achievement with Lend Lease, Frank was responsible as project or development manager for many major projects in the residential, industrial, retail and commercial sectors.

Frank has also gained experience as Fund Manager for the listed Kern Property Fund with a $310m portfolio including regional and sub-regional shopping centres in NSW and Queensland, office buildings and a major hotel. As Property Asset Manager for the $200M direct property portfolio of Allianz Australia and Fund Manager, Property for Allianz Dresdner Asset Management he was responsibility for the investment of $300M in Listed Property Securities. Frank holds two degrees in Architecture from the University of New South Wales and is an Associate Member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

These Directors replaced Steven Flannery and Johnathan Efkarpidis who retired from the board at the AGM.
