Cleaning the CBD
In The City Canberra carries out extra cleaning for the businesses to help keep the CBD looking as presentable as possible to keep attracting more of the public to come to the City.
In The City Canberra does not clean the public realm in public ownership. This is the responsibility of Government who deliver tax-payer funded municipal services. We clean in colonnades, beneath the awnings and on footpaths generally within lease boundaries. We also clean privately owned pavements that are popular with pedestrians. We use a scrubber, high pressure cleaner, blowers, and green cleaning products.
Each weekday, In the City Canberra inspects the City and Braddon for cleaning issues and graffiti. The CBD Ranger then arranges for graffiti to be spray cleaned and/or painted over, doing our best to match paint colour. Graffiti will not be removed from heights, if it is excessively large or if sites are repetitively tagged.
There are two levels of cleaning and graffiti removal:
Retail Core as defined in the Levy Collection Area (basically Moore Street to Constitution Avenue)
Level One – Prompt Response service requests that are to be resolved in zero to three hours.
Level Two – General Response service requests that are to be resolved in 12 to 24 hours.
Level One – Prompt Response service requests that are to be resolved in zero to four hours.
Level Two – General Response service requests that are to be resolved in 24 to 72 hours.
ITCC advocates for a clean CBD which is difficult with tired infrastructure and limited public resources. If you wish to contact us about cleaning and graffiti call the CBD Ranger on 0448 222 375 noting he works part time.
