Braddon hair stylist wins ‘Salon Stylist of the year’ 2017

As of 1 January 2018, the management of the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy transferred from In The City Canberra to the City Renewal Authority. Views expressed in these articles may not reflect the views of the Authority.

Once again, Canberra’s local talent has been nationally recognised, this time at the Australian Hair Industry Awards (AHIA).

The AHIA are the only National Business Awards in the hair industry where a strong panel of business, marketing, coaching, media and educational experts spent over three weeks scrutinising more than 230 entries.

Canberran Leslie Henshaw took out the Salon Stylist of the year 2017 section of the AHIA after impressing the judges with his brilliance in styling and colouring hair.

As the Head Colourist and Senior Stylist at Next Hair in Braddon, Leslie’s talent stretches way beyond basic cuts, standard tints and predictable foils.

“Colour is so much more. It’s a great confidence booster for a client, who walks out of the salon with their head held high and feeling like a brand-new person,” says Leslie.

“It’s also a dynamic and exciting component of the industry for me as a professional.”

Throughout Leslie’s career he’s spread his wings overseas with his ‘Chromatophores’ collection published 42 times overseas, including in Passion, artCoiffure, Russia and disconnect (Hong Kong).

He lives and breathes giving back to the industry through education and training, teaching in more than a dozen Australian cities and overseas including Hong Kong, China and Philippines.

Leslie is a great representative of the wonderful talent lived and breathed in the nation’s capital.
