Business Resources

Canberra CBD Limited is committed to encouraging business development in the City centre.  Here we provide some useful links for business owners and operators.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission – register for online services to pay annual fees and lodge forms.

ACT & Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Canberra’s largest organisation representing local business.

ACT Office of Regulatory Services (Fair Trading) – Business and consumer information and legislation.

Canberra Business Council – A leading business organisation for the Capital Region, committed to the economic development and sustainability of the ACT.

Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations – Information for employers on fair work practices, workplace health & safety, and related legislation.

Recruitment Agencies – listing of employment service providers in the Canberra CBD.

Conferences & Event Hire – listing of available facilities within the Canberra CBD.

Roadworks – Territory & Municipal Services website provides a listing of temporary road closures that may affect businesses and parking in certain areas.

Crime Stoppers – The first line of defence in the fight against any crime in the community is you. To prevent  the development of emotional and behavioural problems in our community leading to crime, it is crucial to act early.  Police rely on members of the community to report suspicious or unusual events. Something that may appear small or insignificant could prove vital to a Police investigation aimed at solving crime and preventing people from re-offending.

Crime Stoppers is set up to enable community members to pass information to the police, which they can do  anonymously by reporting any suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.  Fortunately for ACT residents, Canberra remains one of the safest cities in the world, well below the national average in violent crime.

BizSafe – a program run by the AFP which helps businesses with crime prevention eg. robbery, credit card fraud, counterfeit currency and workplace security.

Business Council of Australia - A forum for Australian business leaders to contribute to public policy debate.  See their latest news articles.

Australian Retailers Association – The peak industry body has been established for over 104 years.  Their website contains useful information on workplace relations, industry news articles, research and education.

Fix My Street - A very useful website launched by the ACT Government (Territory & Municipal Services) allowing members of the public to report on myriad municipal issues requiring attention.  If you are concerned about footpaths, potholes, trees, graffiti, cycle paths, abandoned vehicles, garbage, road signs, noise pollution, parks and playgrounds and more, you can lodge an anonymous complaint to TAMS via this website, and track the response.

ACTSmart – Recycling programs for offices and businesses around Canberra.

APRA – Licensing information for pubs, clubs, restaurants and retailers wishing to play music on their premises.

NCCC – Our friends at the National Convention Centre Canberra regularly provide us with lists of their upcoming events.  If your business is affected by, or looking to take advantage, of large crowds of people attending events, please contact our office so we can pass on the relevant information.
