Good News! The City is Christmassy every December weekend before the big day!
In 2017 the ACT Government has directly commissioned the consultant we employed in 2016 and signed up the charity Red Nose. We had enthusiastically partnered with Red Nose in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and provided $75,000 to help break Guinness World ™ records and opportunities to collect.
Now our colleagues are both delivering a three week long Christmas event in Glebe Park. Our Christmas Carnival In The City is on the first weekend and the ACT Government funded event follows. The government is pursuing activations over longer periods so you get to come to the City four weekends in a row! Here is their letter delivered to all of the businesses on 3 November.
In contrast, in 2015 and 2016, In The City Canberra received a grant from the ACT Government. We transferred half the amount to the Charity Red Nose to deliver the Christmas tree and lights. The rest was used for the concert, consultant and its headliners. This made it a larger more diverse event experience over 8 days and nights.
Bring on Christmas!
