Hosted by Canberra CBD Limited, the Tocumwal Lane pARTy will be held on Sunday 29 March in Tocumwal Lane, off Bunda Street and Petrie Plaza, as part of the CBR 31 days in March Festival.
From 11am till 4pm, a number of Canberra’s notable street artists will be painting all the blank walls in the laneway in a celebration of Canberra’s unique street art scene. Work created during the party will establish an artistic hub bringing together the unique styles and expressions spread throughout Canberra.
It’s not only established street artists who have the chance to be involved however, visitors will be invited to try their hand at painting on the walls or canvases in one of the day’s master classes.
Local foodie favourites such as Beach Burrito will be on hand to cater for visitors. Adding to the party atmosphere will be a local DJ playing music throughout the day.
The theme for the pARTy is super hero so come dressed as your favourite character as the Tocumwal Lane pARTy transforms the laneway from Clark Kent shabby to Superman chic!

Founder of Graffik Paint, Geoff Filmer is a well-known and loved Canberra artist.
Geoff founded Graffik Paint after recognition for his work on one of Canberra’s legal walls led him to be invited to paint the side walls of Jaws Automotive, which had a history of suffering from unwanted vandalism. Since then Geoff has gone on to paint for the AFP, Canberra CBD, Greening Australia, the Tuggeranong Hyperdome and many other businesses.
His business, Graffik Paint, strives to raise the profile of street art in Canberra as well as helping disadvantaged youth to find a voice and develop self-worth through art. The art was painted live on television over 8 hours.
Veteran street artist Byrd has a classical training in Arts from ANU and has been working for the last 15 years as a professional artist. His work with Atune has seen them create over 90% of Canberra’s commercial murals.
His photorealistic style and ability to adapt and create boundary pushing images is the reason why most Canberra street artists site his work as being a major influence on them.
Byrd has works in the National Gallery of Australia and many high-level private collections as well as paintings in the elevator shafts of New Acton.

‘Art is my life!’
George Rose decided at a young age to dedicate her life to making everything she saw prettier. She spends most of her time up ladders painting large-scale murals or pasting up giant illustrations. She feels most as home with a paintbrush in hand but also likes the feel of a pen, spray can or Wacom tablet.
Part of the Canberra new-school wave, JBR consistently gives clean lines with vivid bright colours in an unashamedly cartoon style. With an ability to work fast he makes for a great visual spectacle!
Originally from Melbourne, Voir has become one of the big names in Canberra. He has the skill and ability to cover any style and make it his own. Painting in an open style he still manages to fill his wall with small intricate details, which allow you to find new and interesting parts after many visits to the same piece.
Imagine Willy Wonka went to Mexico and fell in the love with the local cuisine, relocated to Canberra and opened a cantina which served the finest Mexican food in all the land.
