Footie in the Square

As of 1 January 2018, the management of the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy transferred from In The City Canberra to the City Renewal Authority. Views expressed in these articles may not reflect the views of the Authority.

The atmosphere of the AFL Grand Final will take over Canberra’s Civic Square on 1 October 2016 from 12noon, as the call goes out for the Territory’s footy faithful to celebrate the season’s showdown in the heart of the city.

While the main game may be played in Melbourne, Canberra will put on its own show with fans able to grab a sausage or pie and a cold drink while the kids are entertained by some of the AFL’s skill-testing exhibitions, thanks to AFL NSW/ACT.

This event forms part of the ACT Government’s City Action Plan, bringing a range of events and activities to the city centre. So bring your family and friends and enjoy all the fun of footy finals for free in Civic Square.

The event is a partnership between ACT Government, Canberra Theatre Centre and AFL NSW/ACT.  The event is strictly no BYO.
