Canberra Museum and Gallery
A vibrant place in the heart of the city, Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) celebrates the region’s social history and visual arts with dynamic exhibitions and unique community programs and events.
Housing a permanent collection, reflecting Canberra, and a variety of local, national and international exhibitions, CMAG provides a refreshing insight to the integration of social history and the visual arts. Current exhibitions include:
Canberra Stories Gallery - ongoing - fascinating stories celebrating the region’s dual history as both a community and as the Nation’s Capital.
Something in the Air – Collage & Assemblage in Canberra Region Art – 20 June to 10 October 2010 – Sculpture, assembly and collage by 40 artists, working with found objects exploring Canberra’s unique landscape.
CMAG Recent Acqisitions – 24 July to 21 November 2010 – this exhibition showcases visual art and objects which have been acquired for CMAG’s collection.
Wattle – 3 July – 31 October 2010 – This beautiful symbol of our country is celebrated in an exhibition featuring Edwin Ride’s collection of wattle-related objects.
BEAM – 11 June – 5 September 2010 – Part of an ongoing series of works by Canberra artists involving projection of imagery on the exterior of buildings around the City.
