Canberra CBD Ltd is delighted to announce that Garema Place is set to ignite this summer with a 450m2 open air roller skate rink – the first ever in Canberra.

Even though both the action and the weather will be hot, skaters will be able to keep cool at the Garema Place ‘oasis’ with the large leafy trees that over hang the rink, multiple fan & mist machines and ‘skate through’ drinks stand offering the coolest refreshments in town.

Special programming features from Wednesday to Sunday nights will include roller derby demonstrations, retro video discos, outdoor movie screenings and feature skate shows.

With the official opening of Roller Skate in the City on Friday 6 January the fun takes in the summer school holidays and continues right through to Sunday 5 February.

Operation times and Program Features:            

General Skate Sessions – 1 hour public skate session  

Sun – Fri : 9am, 10.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm, 3pm, 4.30pm, 6pm & 7.30pm

Sat:  9am, 10.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm, 3pm & 4.30pm

Retro Movie Night:  1.5 hour skate session with movie screening

Sunday and Thursday nights at 9pm featuring iconic roller disco and dance movies from 60’s – 80’s

Sun 15 & Thur 19 Jan                       Grease – 1978 – PG

Roller Derby Demo Night: 2 x 20min demo matches with 1 hour public skate session

Wednesday nights @ 9pm presented by the Canberra Roller Derby League

Roller Disco Night: 1.5hour public skate session with live DJ

Friday nights at 9pm featuring local and interstate DJ’s with retro music videos from 70’s – 90’s

Saturday Skate Shows: feature skate show followed by 1hour public skate session

6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm sessions, starting with dynamic skate performance from some of Australia’s top artistic show skaters.

Groups Lessons: add $5 to general skate hire price

Available daily at the following times:

Lessons – Beginner (maximum 6 in group)	30mins and inc. general skate session	10.30am  1.30pm  4.30pm
Lessons – Advanced (maximum 6 in group)	30mins and inc. general skate session	9am 12noon 3pm

Party Bookings Tent

• Available for 2 hour private hire
• Spoil your guests to a A-list experience of a general skate session, roller disco, movie screening or roller derby events.
• Includes lounge seating for up to 20 guests
• Hire cost $75 + gst
