Canberra’s beer and bar scene continues to impress the rest of the nation with a range of venues offering some of the most sought after beverages in the world.
Braddons BentSpoke Brewery has won over the tastebuds of many Canberran’s and visitors one beer at a time.
Since opening in 2014, the brewery has firmly cemented itself in the Australian beer scene selling over 300,000 litres and 50 different beers and cider brewed.
BentSpoke co-owner and head brewer Richard Watkins, says the focus of the venue is making and selling beer.
“There is something for everyone here, we have 18 varieties of beer and cider available at any one time which are all brewed on premises,” he said.
“All beers are on fully display so you can actually watch the team at work while you sample a selection of brews by the pint or in the sample bars.”
Richard believes trading in a vibrant location like Braddon has helped attract a range of customers from around the nation and the globe.
“We have really enjoyed trading in the city, we have seen a variety of people walking in our doors to enjoy a pint at the bar or to takeaway,” he said. “We get a lot of locals but also people from out of town and overseas.”
After Richard and his partner travelled the world drawing inspiration for BentSpoke Brewery, he has hopes Canberra city can offer more of an Alfresco dining experience for its visitors.
“I think if we can cut out more of the traffic in the city this would allow for a much nicer alfresco hospitality offering,” he said.
The Brewery recently took out the International Brewing Awards 2017, with their two canned beers, Barley Griffin and Crankshaft going home with gold and silver medals in their categories.
